With a history spanning over 50 years, OAW has grown from a local practice into a comprehensive orthopedic care center serving patients across Wisconsin.

Our Legacy

OAW was founded in 1960 by Dr. Alfred Kritter, who established his orthopedic surgery practice in Waukesha. In 1962, Dr. Charles Desch joined him; together, they laid the foundation for excellence in orthopedic care in Waukesha and Jefferson County. Their vision was centered on progressive treatment, patient-first care, and continued education, which remains our guiding philosophy today.
