Inspiration and Motivation

Ashley’s inspiration to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant stems from her childhood fascination with medicine and caregiving. She recalls numerous childhood photos depicting her doctoring pets and people in need, illustrating her lifelong passion for the science of medicine and the art of caring for others. For Ashley, meeting people who entrust her with their care is a privilege, and she takes pride in understanding what is important to her patients and tailoring her approach accordingly.

Areas of Expertise

Ashley is a generalist in orthopedics with a background in emergency medicine. This diverse experience equips her to manage patients of all ages and identify non-orthopedic issues that may present as orthopedic concerns. Her broad expertise allows her to provide comprehensive care to many patients.

Educational Background

Ashley holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Marquette University. She is certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).

Professional Experience

With over 17 years of experience as a Physician Assistant, Ashley joined Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin after working closely with orthopedic surgeons in the emergency department at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Her extensive experience has made her an asset to the practice, and her expertise in emergency medicine and orthopedics allows her to provide high-quality patient care.

Patient Populations and Conditions

Ashley enjoys working with patients of various ages and pathologies who present in the orthoASAP clinic, particularly in pediatrics. The diversity of cases and the opportunity to positively impact patients' lives are aspects of her work she finds especially rewarding.

Outside Interests

Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and watching her children participate in various sports. She is an avid exerciser, reader, and enjoys a host of animals, including two dogs, a turtle, fish, 25 chickens, and two ducks. Ashley also maintains a massive garden, which she and her husband enjoy harvesting for fresh produce. Passionate about her chickens and writing, Ashley envisions a career in writing or education if she weren’t in medicine. She is highly involved in her community, giving career outreach talks, serving on the board of directors for her local youth baseball club, and participating in various community activities.

Career Goals

Ashley aspires to become proficient in musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound. Her tenure as an Emergency Department PA involved significant education and precepting responsibilities, and she hopes to continue this educational role at Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin.
