Inspiration and Career Path
Melissa Malloy’s passion for medicine began at a young age, influenced by growing up with a sister with special needs. A defining moment came when a Physician Assistant explained her sister’s heart condition in a way that Melissa could understand, sparking her desire to pursue the PA profession.
Areas of Expertise
Melissa’s area of expertise is the treatment of painful hip and knee conditions. She specializes in nonsurgical and surgical treatment of arthritis: joint injections, braces, physical therapy referrals, medication management, as well as hip and knee replacement surgeries
Education and Certifications
Melissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Marquette University in 2013 and her Master’s in PA Studies in 2015. She has maintained her national board certification since 2015 and holds additional certifications, including ACLS, ATLS, NIH Stroke, and SCOPE.
Professional Background
With nine years of experience in emergency medicine, Melissa has honed her skills in managing acute and life-threatening conditions. She is now excited to return to her orthopedic roots at Orthopaedic Associates of Wisconsin, where she brings a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Patient Care Philosophy
Melissa is dedicated to providing patient-centered care, particularly for individuals with disabilities. She believes in educating her patients and their families to ensure they are informed and comfortable with their treatment plans.
Outside of Work
Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to destinations like Hawaii, Italy, and Croatia, and mentoring aspiring PAs. She is also actively involved in AAPA and WAPA, having served on the WAPA Board of Directors from 2016-2021.
